ActiveImage Protector for Hyper-V provides hot-image backups of the Hyper-V host volume along with all guest virtual machines. ActiveImage Protector’s first-of-its-kind ReZoom technology lets you restore individual virtual machines instead of having to restore the entire volume. In addition, the new SHR feature can quickly start-up a VM from an image backup during the restore of the VM. ActiveImage Protector for Hyper-V can restore that virtual machine to a different Hyper-V server (even to dissimilar hardware).See the differences between two edition in the list.

ActiveImage Protector™ backs up your entire machine, including the OS, settings, data files and applications, and access rights into a single image file.   • 10% of available space in the respective volumes for change tracking to take snapshots and incremental backups.
  • To run backup tasks using the Deduplication Compression feature, reserving 1% or more of the total data of the backup source for saving the temporary working files in a volume that should not be included in the backup source is required.

DVD-ROM Drive :
Required to install the product and boot up the ActiveImage Protector Boot Environment.

  • ActiveImage Protector Linux Edition supports only x86_64 architecture.
  • Secure Boot is not supported.

Hot Imaging Backup :
FAT16, FAT16X, FAT32, FAT32X, NTFS, ReFS

  • The above listed file systems on MBR and GPT disks are supported.
  • Support for the above mentioned file systems of virtual disks on Storage Space configured with Windows 8 or later OS.
  • ReZooming a virtual machine created in ReFS is not supported.

Cold Imaging in Boot Environment（Linux）:(except for IT Pro)
FAT16, FAT16X, FAT32, FAT32X, NTFS, Linux Ext2, Linux Ext3, Linux Ext4, Linux Swap, Linux LVM

  • Actiphy Boot Environment Builder supports building “Boot Environment.”

Cold Imaging in Actiphy Boot Environment（Windows RE/PE）or RescueBoot :

  • RescueBoot is not available for ActiveImage Protector IT Pro.

  • Linux RAID is not supported if RAID is configured by using dmraid.
